Where to Go for Cross-Country Skiing in New Hampshire

If you’re looking for some of the best cross-country skiing in New Hampshire, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better home base than the stunning White Mountains – which also happens to be where you’ll find our amazing New Hampshire Bed and Breakfast! There are so many great things to do in the White Mountains in the winter that you can have a different adventure every day and still not see or experience it all!

There is no shortage of fantastic cross-country skiing in the area, too, including just down the road at Franconia Notch State Park and in the White Mountains National Forest. There are even ungroomed areas where the most adventurous among us are welcome to strap on a pair of skis or snowshoes to enjoy this breathtaking winter wonderland with a little more solitude. If you’d prefer to stick to Nordic Centers for your cross-country skiing adventures in the White Mountains, there are six Nordic Centers to choose from. In total, they offer 400 km of skiable trails!

  1. One of the closest places to our Inn for fabulous cross-country skiing in New Hampshire is the Franconia Village XC Ski Center at the Franconia Inn. They have 65 km of groomed trails for classic-single track skiing through the beautiful White Mountains National Forest.
  2. One of our favorite local spots for cross-country skiing in New Hampshire is the Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center. There are 45 kilometers of trails to explore here, rated for everything from beginners to advanced skiers.
  3. Head to the nearby town of Bethlehem, where you’ll find several community trails at local parks that are perfect for cross-country skiing in New Hampshire. Some of the best include Bretzfelder Park and the Ammonoosuc Recreational Rail Trail.
  4. With 45 stunning kilometers of wooded and riverside trails to explore, it’s no wonder that the Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring & Snowshoe Center is one of the best places for cross-country skiing in New Hampshire. Trails here are groomed for both classic and skate-style skiing.
  5. The Bretton Woods Nordic Center is another popular choice for cross-country skiing in New Hampshire. It sits adjacent to the historic Mount Washington Hotel and offers over 100 km of skiable trails.
  6. Enjoy the vast, groomed trails at the Waterville Valley Nordic Center, where you’ll find more than 75 km of classic and skate-style tracks to explore and varied terrain that is perfect for various skiers.
