Loon Mountain is a great place to ski in the winter, but it’s a mountain biker’s paradise in spring and summer. The downhill mountain biking trails were built in conjunction with the popular Highland Mountain Bike Park, which offers some of the best mountain biking in New Hampshire.
- The Cranmore Mountain Bike Park is another excellent resource utilizing a winter ski area in North Conway. The lift service is a big perk of the bike park, and there is terrain available for all abilities.
-
Waterville Valley Ski Resort offers even more mountain biking in New Hampshire. The surrounding town here has some great flat paved roads for cycling, in addition to the lift-served downhill trails at the ski resort. There’s also a great network of cross-country bike trails in the area, with rentals available if needed.
- If cross-country trails are more your preference than steep downhill terrain, then you’ll want to head to the extensive trail network at Bretton Ridge.
-
Cannon Mountain and Franconia Notch State Park are nearby places to consider mountain biking in New Hampshire. The Flume Gorge opens for the season on May 14th, and the Cannon Mountain Aerial tramway opens on May 28th. There are bike rentals available here, as well as some more relaxed opportunities for biking on the Recreation Path.
- The Great Glen Trails, which also happen to be one of our favorite places for cross country skiing and snowshoeing, also offer some great mountain biking in New Hampshire.
