Head to Cannon Mountain Ski Resort
The White Mountains of New Hampshire are nothing short of a winter wonderland, filled with incredible opportunities for downhill skiing and snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and so much more. Of course, one of our favorite activities is skiing at the top-rated New Hampshire ski resorts within a short drive of our Inn, including Cannon Mountain Ski Resort.
Cannon Mountain Ski Resort is located in nearby Franconia Notch State Park and is home to the popular Aerial Tramway. This incredible feature can move 70 people at a time, drastically improving Cannon Mountain Ski Resort’s uphill capacity compared to other New Hampshire ski resorts. There are also nine more chair lifts and tow ropes spread across the mountain for more downhill fun at Cannon Mountain Ski Resort.
The summit of Cannon Mountain Ski Resort stands at an impressive 4,080 feet, the tallest of all other New Hampshire ski resorts. Cannon Mountain Ski Resort is also home to the longest ski run in New Hampshire, at an impressive 2,180 feet. The longest run here is 2.3 miles – you’ll feel like you’re skiing for days with runs like this! Cannon Mountain Ski Resort also has plenty of varied terrain for all levels of skiers, including beginners, intermediate skiers, and the most advanced downhill experts among us.
Cannon Mountain Ski Resort is also home to a fantastic learning area for those new to snowsports. The Tuckerbrook learning area features four chairlifts and 14 runs just for beginners – and we’re not just talking about kids! That’s not all this incredible mountain has, though. Cannon Mountain Ski Resort also has three terrain parks for skiers and snowboarders to hone their tricks and skills.

Cannon Mountain Ski Resort offers miles of fantastic downhill fun for skiers and snowboarders, but it is just one of the incredible New Hampshire ski resorts in the White Mountains. Bretton Woods has been rated one of the top New Hampshire ski resorts for several years, which isn’t surprising if you’ve skied there before. Bretton Woods is the largest of the New Hampshire ski resorts and features 63 trails and 35 glades, all accessed by ten lifts, including the Bretton Woods Skyway 8-Passenger Gondola and four high-speed quads. Bretton Woods also has an excellent Nordic Ski Center for even more fun days in the snow.
Loon Mountain is an accessible destination perfect for a variety of skiers. It has been highly rated amongst other New Hampshire ski resorts and is known to have one of the best terrain parks in the region (there are six terrain parks in total). In addition, Loon Mountain has three different peaks to ski, which are accessed by 11 lifts. There are 63 skiable runs here, including plenty of tree skiing. Loon Mountain is also home to the only superpipe in New Hampshire, making it the perfect place for the most adventurous skiers and snowboarders among us.
Wildcat Mountain Resort, another great New Hampshire ski resort located in the White Mountains, is part of the Epic system of resorts, which means if you hold an Epic Pass, you can ski here as well. Wildcat Mountain Resort is considered one of the most beautiful New Hampshire ski resorts, offering gorgeous views of Mountain Washington and the Presidential Range. There are more than 2,100 vertical feet of drop at this ski area and plenty of diverse terrain, which you can be skiing in just over 7 minutes, thanks to their high-speed quad chair.
Attitash Mountain Resort is another excellent place to use your Epic Ski Pass. It actually consists of two connected mountains, Attitash and Bear Peak. Together, they offer eight ski lifts and 68 runs to enjoy. You can expect far fewer crowds here than at other New Hampshire Ski Resorts, which is an excellent change of pace. The runs here are traditional to what you’d find in New England, which means plenty of challenging tree-lined terrain combined with wide-open runs. In addition to excellent downhill skiing, there are plenty of miles of nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling trails in the area.
