Our Commitment to the Arts

The innkeepers at the Sugar Hill Inn (Karen and Steve)  believe it is creativity that gives the White Mountain region so much life and attracts thousands of visitors each year. The inn is proud to display work from artists such as:

Deb Aldrich, Kathy Perry, Robert Klein, Patricia Klinefelter, Paula Wolcott, Lary Golden, Adrien Yellow Patenaude, Wendy  Turner, Nathalie Chiasson and Cynthia Knapton.

Year Round Gallery Exhibition

Artists are invited to display their works for sale at the Sugar Hill Inn. Work chosen for display depicts the local area and is not mass produced.   The inn accepts original drawings, paintings, photographs, and crafts for display.  Art chosen for display compliments the colonial and craftsman aesthetics of the inn.

To apply for the year round gallery exhibition e-mail the following to info@sugarhillinn.com

1) A brief biography and description of how the work is made

2) A PDF containing five photographs of your work.

3) A price list stating what your prices are. Include the inn’s 20% commission when preparing your prices.

Artist in Residency Program

The Sugar Hill Inn Artist in Residency lives and creates at the inn. This two week program allows an artist to create in the beautiful White Mountains.

The Artist in Residency is responsible for:

1) Creating a work that will join the inn’s permanent collection

2) Teaching a class or demonstration to the public. The Artist in Residency is asked to prepare unique ideas for  promoting their class/demonstration.

3) Providing their own supplies

What the inn provides:

1) A private bedroom with a separate bathroom.

2) A home cooked breakfast. Lunch and dinner are on your own.

3) A quiet workspace

4) The ability to interact with the public and build teaching experience

5) The ability to display work at the Sugar Hill Inn for the month of your stay.

  • What you plan to achieve as an Artist in Residency

3) A PDF of or a link to a website featuring 10 examples of your work

Writer in Residency Program

The two week long, Writer in Residency Program allows authors to make progress towards completing a project.

The Writer in Residency is responsible for:

1) Blogging daily for www.sugarhillinn.com about their experience in Sugar Hill, New Hampshire.

2) Submitting a proposal for a freelance piece to the appropriate editors.

3) Filming a basic video off the inn for Youtube and this website.

4) Hosting a reading of previous works.

5) Hosting a discussion with the public and promoting it

What the inn provides:

1) A private bedroom and a separate bathroom

2) A home cooked breakfast. Lunch and dinner are on your own.

3) A quiet workspace

4) The ability to interact with the public and build professional experience

5) The ability to blog professionally for a business.

6) The ability to use the inn, the surrounding area, and the inn’s professional contacts to prepare a travel writing  piece for possible national publication.
